BATON ROUGE, La. – With first pitch of the 2021 Texas Collegiate League season a little over a month away,
Baton Rouge continues to solidify its roster. The Rougarou stayed close to home with its latest addition as today
the club announced the signing of former Denham Springs High School standout pitcher Jase McDonald.
McDonald, a red-shirt freshman at LSU Eunice, has helped the Bengals go 41-4 this season and currently sit
atop the national rankings of NJCAA Division II baseball. The 6’3”, 201-pound righty has appeared in 11
games this season with LSUE, making one start, and is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA. In his 11 appearances, totaling 11
innings of work, he has given up runs in only three of those outings, allowing seven earned total. McDonald
starred at Denham Springs High School and was a selection on the 2019 Perfect Game Preseason All-American
and All-Region teams, as well as a 2018 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American. Perfect Game
had McDonald ranked as the number 62 overall prospect in the state of La. and the 19 th ranked right-handed
pitcher. Jase is the son of former LSU ace Ben McDonald.
The Baton Rouge Rougarou open the 2021 season on June 1 with a 4-game roadtrip to Texas to face both the
Amarillo Sod Squad and Brazos Valley Bombers in 2-game sets. The Rougarou home opener will be Saturday,
June 5 at Pete Goldsby Field versus the Victoria Generals. Please check back at the team’s official website
